1. Who is eligible?
Anyone who is interested in life-long learning related to the food science and technology, food safety, food quality and nutrition, either scientifically or industrially.

2. Can I join as a non-member?
No you cannot. However, you could simultaneously join the membership and the CPD program by paying $600 registration fees.

4. When is the application opened?
You could always apply for the diploma course. The three-year period is subject to individual member. After your application is accepted, a confirmation email will be sent to you, which specific the valid period of gaining CPD credits.

5. What if I don’t have a food-related qualification (Higher diploma / BSc / MPhil / PhD) or experiences?
You could apply as an “affiliated member”. After a completion of 25 credits in 3 years, the CPD diploma will be awarded.

6. How much in total of this CPD diploma?
All applicants need to submit an application fee of $450 (for current member) or $600 (for non-member). However, the total expenses vary regarding the events you will be joining. Since HKFSTA is a non-product organization, local events normally cost less than $500.

7. How do I keep track of my CPD credits?
For CPR courses that you finish, they will be added in our internal system. You could always send your enquiry to info@hkfsta.com.hk

8. Will the attendance of training courses prior to the effective date of the CPD be recognized for CPD purposes?
No. CPD compliance should start from the CPD implementation date, which will be sent to you after your application is approved.

9.  What if I cannot obtain enough points within the 3-year period?
A Certificate of Continuing Professional Development" will be issued if full-member obtains 10 credits; student member obtains 15 credits; or affiliated member obtains 20 credits within the 3-year period. No extention of credits will be allowed.
